Mississippi State, Washington and Wisconsin are all returnees to the top 25 this week – all had a fairly unremarkable 2-0 week. Wisconsin got a slight scare from Northwestern, and Mississippi State from Georgia, but that’s about it. Washington won more comfortably, but they were also playing a worse slate of teams, and at home. The fallers-out are quite a bit more interesting.

Villanova and Louisville each lost twice this week, but in different ways. The Cardinals held a second-half double-digit lead against Virginia before a couple of hot-shooting stretches from Virginia turned that game around, and Louisville was never really in their game with Syracuse, going down 16 in the first half before losing by 20. Villanova, on the other hand, lost two games that they should have won, despite them being on the road – at Georgetown and at Xavier. (One loss probably would’ve been excusable, but not both.) The other team falling out of the top 25 this week is sitting at #26 – that’s Iowa. It was a 1-1 week for the Hawkeyes; a heartbreaking home loss to Maryland was followed by an overtime win over Indiana, so it was a tough week for the hearts of Iowa fans.

Notable unranked teams include #32 Syracuse, #35 TCU, #40 Arizona State, #47 NC State, #48 Florida, #80 Arizona, #88 Arkansas, #94 Indiana, #96 UCLA, #102 Saint Louis, #132 Missouri, #136 Illinois, #163 Illinois State and #324 SIUE. The 353rd-ranked team in the land is Delaware State returning to the bottom spot – they were beaten by the previous lowest-ranked team, Maryland-Eastern Shore.
