16: Radford, Abilene Christian, Texas Southern, Rider, Fairleigh Dickinson, Norfolk State

Temple returns to the bracket after improving their AAC record to 10-4 yesterday, and St Mary’s is making what I think is their first appearance in the field this season, after a dominating win over San Diego too moves their conference record to 10-4. The two teams falling out are more due to procedural changes, as NC State didn’t play yesterday, while Nebraska had a not-at-all-bad loss to Purdue. It’s more in that BracketBot lessens the input held by predictive metrics as time passes, and both those teams have good efficiency numbers but not the résumé to back them up.

Two new representatives in the realm of automatic bids, Georgia Southern replacing Texas State in the Sun Belt while St Francis (PA)’s emergence turned out to be short-lived as Fairleigh Dickinson is the new NEC representative. Those are both close margins, so they could even flip back by the time Tuesday’s bracket comes out. If you’re looking for conference tournaments to watch a bit lower on the pecking order, those would be two to look at with the top teams all clustered near each other.
